Benue Workers to Enjoy One-Week Easter Holiday

Benue State Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, has approved a one-week Easter holiday for all civil servants in the state, beginning March 31. Workers were directed to close early at 1pm yesterday to allow participation in Easter festivities.

The directive, issued through the Permanent Secretary, General Services, Godwin Tighil, is aimed at giving workers sufficient time to engage in activities marking the Easter celebration. Normal official duties are scheduled to resume on Wednesday, April 8, after the holiday period.

Governor Alia clarified that workers providing essential services are exempt from the break and are expected to remain on duty to attend to urgent public needs and human services during the holiday. This ensures that critical services continue uninterrupted throughout the celebrations.

The governor extended Easter greetings to the people of Benue State, wishing them a peaceful and joyful celebration. He encouraged residents to reflect on the spiritual significance of Easter, emphasizing the values of sacrifice, love, and hope associated with the season.

Alia also called on citizens to continue praying for peace and unity in the state and across Nigeria, stressing the importance of collective efforts toward stability, development, and social harmony.
