Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has reacted to the reported removal of police spokesperson ACP Benjamin Hundeyin, describing it as a deserved outcome and arguing that Hundeyin was never qualified for the role he held.
Speaking in an interview with Symfoni TV, Sowore questioned both Hundeyin’s promotion and his suitability as a public face of the Nigeria Police Force. “If the police were serious, what is Ben Hundeyin doing speaking for them? Ben Hundeyin should at best be working in the background, perhaps handling some of their social media accounts. He was wrongly promoted — Benjamin Hundeyin is a CSP who was promoted to ACP. He is part of Course 25 of the police; all his colleagues are still CSPs,” he said.
Sowore argued that Hundeyin’s elevation had been built on a shaky foundation, and that his removal was an inevitable consequence of that.
He questioned what meaningful contribution Hundeyin had made to the institution beyond public relations, suggesting the role demanded far more than he was capable of delivering.
Sowore also noted that some people had been confident Hundeyin would survive the reshuffle, and warned that his removal was only the beginning — predicting that others who had staked their positions on his continued tenure would also find themselves on uncertain ground.See_More…
