Bauchi Orders Immediate School Closure

The Bauchi State Government has ordered the immediate closure of all schools amid growing security concerns across the state.

The directive, announced on Monday by the Public Relations Officer of the State Ministry of Education, Jalaludeen Usman, applies to all public and private academic institutions, including primary, secondary and tertiary schools, as well as Federal Government-owned establishments.

Usman explained that the decision followed extensive consultations and a thorough review of emerging threats to the safety of students, teachers and school communities. He said that while the sudden closure may cause inconvenience, the government places the protection of children above all else.

He urged parents, guardians and school proprietors to remain calm, assuring them that the government is working with security agencies to stabilise the situation and determine when learning activities can resume safely.

The ministry also appealed to residents to stay vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security authorities, emphasising that public cooperation is essential in maintaining community safety.

According to the government, further updates on the security situation and reopening timelines will be provided in due course.
