Bauchi governor sacks women affairs commissioner

Bauchi state governor, Bala Muhammad

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has relieved Hajiya Zainab Baban-Takko of her position as Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development.

The governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, announced the development in a statement issued on Monday. He said the removal formed part of a minor adjustment to the composition of the State Executive Council.

“In that respect, the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Developmen Hajiya Zainab-Baban Takko, has been relieved of her appointment with immediate effect. The governor thanks the Honourable Commissioner for her services to the State and wishes her success in her future endeavours,” the statement read.

The dismissal comes days after the Bauchi State Civil Service Commission announced the termination of two senior government officials for forgery, citing violations of the State Public Service Rule 0327. Earlier this month, the commission also dismissed an education officer for gross misconduct involving sexual harassment.
