Nigerian lawyer and activist Dele Farotimi has alleged that former President Goodluck Jonathan was fully aware that foreign militias were being brought into Nigeria ahead of the 2015 general election, but was powerless to stop it.
Speaking in an interview with Edmund Obilo, Farotimi said that revelations made by former PDP National Chairman Abubakar Baraje about the importation of terrorists were not news to Jonathan. “Jonathan knew that those looking to remove him from office were not going to stop at anything. He was not unaware — all this that Baraje was telling all of us years later about the importation of terrorists, Jonathan knew,” he said.
Farotimi argued that the former president was isolated, betrayed, and outmanoeuvred at every turn. According to the Nigerian lawyer, Jonathan knew what was happening but could not act, partly because he did not know who around him he could trust.
He also noted that his political godfather had already walked away, and the Nigerian press had waged a relentless campaign to destroy his character. He stated that being stripped of allies and credibility, Jonathan was left exposed.See_More…
