Atiku’s Aide Reacts As Fani-Kayode Says Report Claiming Germany Has Rejected Him Is Fake News

Paul Ibe, Special Adviser on Media to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has responded to recent comments made by former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode regarding reports that Germany rejected his proposed ambassadorial appointment.

Fani-Kayode had earlier dismissed the reports as false, describing them as “fake news” orchestrated by political opponents. In a post on his X handle, he alleged that certain opposition figures were unhappy with his nomination and were deliberately trying to tarnish his image and frustrate his chances of representing Nigeria abroad. He insisted that regardless of the criticism, he remained determined to serve the country.

Reacting shortly after, Paul Ibe questioned the credibility of Fani-Kayode’s defense. In his own post on X, Ibe pointedly asked whether a previously resurfaced statement by Fani-Kayode—where he criticized the age of Bola Ahmed Tinubu—should also be dismissed as “fake news.”

Ibe’s response appeared to challenge what he sees as selective denial, suggesting that Fani-Kayode cannot easily discredit unfavorable reports while standing by past controversial remarks. His comment has since fueled further debate online, with many users weighing in on issues of consistency, accountability, and political rhetoric.

The exchange highlights the ongoing tension among political figures and their allies, especially in an atmosphere where public statements—both past and present—are frequently revisited and scrutinized. It also reflects how social media continues to serve as a battleground for political narratives, with competing voices shaping public perception in real time.
