Atiku’s aide asks Tinubu to sack minister caught in certificate forgery scandal

Paul Ibe, the media adviser to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has called on President Bola Tinubu to immediately sack the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, over alleged certificate forgery.

In a post shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Ibe said that the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), had reportedly confirmed that the certificate presented by the minister was forged.

He stressed that such a serious allegation should not be ignored by the presidency.

According to Ibe, the confirmation from the university was enough reason for President Tinubu to dismiss the minister from office and allow him to face legal prosecution.

He wrote: “Since the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), has confirmed that Minister Uche Nnaji allegedly forged the institution’s certificate, which he presented officially for his ministerial appointment, one would have expected that President Bola Tinubu @officialABAT would have sacked him and released him for prosecution.”

The spokesman also hinted that failure to act swiftly on the matter would raise questions about the government’s stand on integrity and accountability.

Ibe’s comment has drawn mixed reactions on social media, as many Nigerians expressed concerns about the rising cases of certificate scandals involving public officials.

Some users supported Ibe’s call, saying that anyone found guilty of forgery should not hold public office, while others urged the government to allow due investigation before taking any action.
