ASUU commends Gov Aliyu for approving implementation of 40% CATA

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) of two Sokoto State-owned institutions have commended Governor Ahmed Aliyu for his approval of the implementation of Forty percent (40%) Consolidated Academic Tools Allowances(CATA).

ASUU said, “We write on behalf of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU-SSU & SSUES) to express our profound gratitude and appreciation to the Sokoto State Government under the distinguished leadership of His Excellency Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto FCNA Ph D. being it first state to approve the implementation of ASUU-FGN Agreement of December 2025 in the North-west region.

“In particular, we wish to acknowledge the approval for implementation of 40% increment for academic staff, the payment of the Earned Academic Allowance (EAA) for two academic sessions, and the constitution of the Governing Council for Shehu Shagari University of Education, Sokoto. These landmark achievements clearly demonstrate His Excellency’s unwavering commitment to the advancement of higher education in Sokoto State.

“Once again, we thank His Excellency for his exemplary leadership and steadfast commitment to the development of education in Sokoto State.”

ASUU also made an appeal to the governor as they said, “While expressing our sincere gratitude for these approvals, we respectfully appeal for favourable consideration of our other outstanding claims in due course which include: Outstanding third party deduction of our cooperative and union check-off dues for months.

“Promotion arrears of seven academic sessions.

“Arrears of 25/35% for 14 months from January, 2024′ to February, 2025.”
