Asagba backs Tinubu, Oborevwori, commends Ezenyeli

The Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty Professor Epiphany Chigbogu Azinge, SAN, OON, has commended the Chairman of Oshimili South Local Government Area, Chief Kelvin Ezenyeli Obi, for his administration’s development initiatives, particularly the construction of a new administrative complex for the council.

Azinge gave the commendation at the commissioning of the Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori Administrative Complex at the Oshimili South Local Government Secretariat in Asaba.

The monarch, who was represented at the event by Delta State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, described the project as a demonstration of purposeful leadership and an important contribution to grassroots governance.

He recalled the 1976 Local Government Reforms, noting that the essence of local administration was to bring government closer to the people and ensure that essential services were delivered effectively at the grassroots.

Azinge particularly praised the council administration for making provisions within the new complex to accommodate some national government agencies operating in Asaba.

According to him, the arrangement would help address office accommodation challenges confronting the agencies while creating a more conducive environment for them to discharge their responsibilities.

The Asagba also commended Ezenyeli for naming the administrative complex after Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, describing the gesture as an acknowledgement of the governor’s contributions to development across Delta State.

While stressing that traditional rulers are expected to remain non-partisan, Azinge said the Asaba community remained supportive of the developmental efforts of both Governor Oborevwori and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He cited ongoing federal and state projects, including the Benin-Asaba Expressway, as examples of interventions that he said were contributing to infrastructure development in the area.

Azinge described the newly commissioned facility as evidence of what could be achieved through purposeful leadership and good governance.

Earlier, Ezenyeli highlighted some of the projects and programmes implemented during his second tenure as chairman, outlining the administration’s efforts in infrastructure and community development.

As part of activities marking the commissioning, the council chairman also announced 10 free marriage registrations for residents of the local government area.

Onyeme congratulated Ezenyeli on the completion of the projects and urged him to sustain the pace of development in Oshimili South.

The Deputy Governor subsequently commissioned the administrative complex and the newly constructed Prof. Epiphany Azinge Lane on behalf of Governor Oborevwori.

The projects, according to the officials, are expected to improve the working environment for public servants, enhance service delivery and strengthen access to government services within Oshimili South.
