The Nigerian Army on Saturday inaugurated a newly constructed administrative block and a Library at the Government Secondary School Wase, in Wase LGA of Plateau.
It was a moment of joy and celebration as people from all walks of life gathered at the prestigious at the school to witness the epochal inauguration of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Special Intervention Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC).
The News Agency of Nigerian (NAN) reports that the project was executed by the GOC 1 Division, Nigerian Army, Commander, Sector 1 Operation Fansan Yamma, Maj.-Gen. Abubakar Wase.
In his remark, the Special Guest of Honour, Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, stated that the Nigerian Army remained committed to contributing positively to society while strengthening civil-military relations.
The COAS was represented by the GOC, 3 Division, Nigerian Army/, Commander, Operation Enduring Peace, Maj.-Gen. Folusho Oyinlola.
Shaibu emphasised that tackling the challenges confronting the nation required sustained collaboration between the military and the civil populace.
He charged the students to remain focused and strive for excellence in their academic pursuits.
Earlier, the project initiator, Wase , explained that his decision to embark on the project was his passion for the educational development of the youths who are the future leaders.
The GOC urged them to ensure the proper utilisation of the facilities for the benefit of future generations.
In his vote of thanks, the Principal of the school, Malam Musa Ajiya, expressed profound gratitude to the Nigerian Army for its contributions to national security enhancement and educational development through the CIMIC projects.
He encouraged others to emulate the gesture by giving back to the society, adding that such efforts significantly enhance performance in the learning environment.
He also pledged to ensure the proper maintenance of the new facilities.
NÀN also reports that the key highlight of the event included the unveiling and inspection of the newly constructed administrative building and the library as well as the presentation of teaching aids to the four Districts.(NAN)
