Army signals commander assesses communication support for Operation Hadin Kai

The Commander Corps of Signals, Major General Nosakhare Ugbo, on Saturday, September 27, paid an operational assessment visit to the Headquarters of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) in the North East. The visit followed directives from the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, to strengthen communication support for counter-insurgency operations.

Major General Ugbo said the visit was to review the installation, maintenance, and protection of key communication infrastructure across the theatre. He met with commanders, inspected signal projects, and emphasized the importance of safeguarding information and communication technology (ICT) assets. He assured the Joint Task Force of the Corps’ commitment to providing reliable and innovative communication systems to support ongoing operations.

The Theatre Commander, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, welcomed the visit, describing communication as “the backbone of successful operations.” He commended the Signals Corps for its foresight and pledged to protect critical infrastructure to ensure sustained operational effectiveness. He expressed confidence that the assessment would further improve the success of Operation Hadin Kai.

During the visit, Commander of the 57 Signal Brigade, Brigadier General Nelson Okafor, briefed Major General Ugbo on the unit’s activities. He highlighted progress in deploying ICT projects and communication equipment, noting that these efforts had improved command and control functions across the theatre.

The visit also featured operational briefings, the signing of the visitors’ book, the exchange of souvenirs, and group photographs with sector commanders and senior officers of Operation Hadin Kai.
