Army Inaugurates New Accommodation Block to Boost Troops’ Welfare in Kaduna

The Nigerian Army has formally moved soldiers into a newly constructed accommodation block at Ribadu Cantonment in Kaduna State as part of efforts to improve troop welfare and operational efficiency.

The inauguration ceremony, held on Friday, was organised by the 1 Division of the Nigerian Army. The project was funded by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shuaibu, in line with his command philosophy anchored on the “Soldier First Culture.”

According to the command, the philosophy prioritises personnel welfare as a key driver of operational effectiveness and morale.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division and Commander of Sector 1, Operation Fansan Yamma, Maj.-Gen. Abubakar Wase, was represented at the event by Lt.-Col. R.O. Ejoor, the Commanding Officer of the Administration Battalion, 1 Division Garrison.

Addressing the beneficiaries, Wase stressed the importance of maintaining the new facility and urged soldiers to adopt a strong maintenance culture to preserve its condition.

He warned personnel against illegal electricity connections or any actions that could damage the state-of-the-art accommodation, stating that defaulters would face sanctions.

Wase also expressed appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff for funding the project, noting that such infrastructural development is vital to sustaining the fighting capability and psychological readiness of troops deployed across various operational theatres.

The ceremony concluded with the formal presentation of keys to the soldiers, marking their official occupation of the new accommodation block.
