On Saturday, an operational assessment team from army headquarters, led by Major-General Abubakar Garba and Major-General Olufemi Williams, conducted a visit to the 1 Division and Sector 1 of Operation Fansan Yamma.
This visit is part of ongoing initiatives to appraise the readiness and operational effectiveness of troops assigned to the 1 Division’s area of responsibility in the fight against insecurity.
The team, which included senior officers from the Department of Army Operations, was welcomed by the commander of Sub Sector 3 at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Udawa. They inspected the troops, equipment, and facilities during their visit.
The assessment was centred on operational preparedness, logistics, and the welfare of the troops.
While at the base, the team engaged with the troops, praising their resilience and professionalism in maintaining ongoing efforts against banditry and terrorism. They urged personnel to stay dedicated to their constitutional duties and to uphold the highest standards of discipline and professionalism.
Following this, the team travelled to Birnin Gwari, where they received a briefing in the operational room regarding the current security landscape, recent operational achievements, and ongoing challenges.
This visit granted the team a firsthand perspective on the realities faced in the field during Operation Fansan Yamma within the joint operations area.
Additionally, the team visited Headquarters 3 Brigade in Kano, where they were greeted by Brigadier-General Ahmed Tukur, the commander of the 3 Brigade.
The team leader emphasised that the visit highlighted the Nigerian Army Headquarters’ dedication to ensuring that operational formations and units maintain high levels of efficiency, discipline, and combat readiness, in alignment with the vision of the Chief of Army Staff.
