‎The Nigerian Army (NA) has extended its community development drive to Argungu in Kebbi State with the renovation of a modern three-classroom block at Dankoji Nizamiyya Primary School, along Kanta Road, Yardole Area, and the donation of four boreholes to enhance water access in the area.

‎The initiative, carried out under the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Special Intervention Project, reflects the NA’s commitment to fostering social development and improving the quality of life in host communities beyond its traditional security mandate.

‎Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Emir of Argungu, His Royal Highness Alhaji Samaila Muhammad Mera, commended the Nigerian Army for its dedication to nation-building through education and welfare initiatives.

‎“Security is not confined to the battlefield; it rather encompasses the education, welfare, and overall progress of communities we serve,” the Emir said, describing the intervention as a symbol of unity and progress.

‎The project facilitator, Major General Ismaila Babangida Abubakar, an indigene of Argungu, expressed deep personal satisfaction in contributing to the development of his hometown. He urged community leaders, teachers, and residents to take ownership of the facilities.

‎“The maintenance of these facilities is a collective responsibility,” he said, adding that the project aligns with the COAS’s Command Philosophy of transforming the Nigerian Army into a well-motivated force capable of fulfilling its constitutional duties.

‎He further noted that by investing in education and community well-being, the Nigerian Army is actively contributing to a more secure and prosperous future for all Nigerians.

‎Earlier, the project supervisor, Mr. Magaji Lawal, highlighted the poor state of the classrooms prior to renovation. He said the COAS approved full funding for the rehabilitation after recognizing the urgent need to restore the learning environment.

‎The renovation works included the complete remodeling of the three-classroom block, repair of 46 classroom chairs and tables, provision of new furniture for teachers, and the construction of four boreholes — a solar-powered borehole at Gwazange, a hand pump borehole at Yar’Aduwa, a motorized borehole with generator also at Yar’Aduwa, and the rehabilitation of an existing borehole at Dankoji Nizamiyya Primary School.

‎The event attracted dignitaries including the Emir of Argungu, the Mai Biu, Shehu of Bama, Major General M.D. Danja, Brigadier General Moses Ikobah, Colonel Toro, community leaders, teachers, and pupils of the benefiting school.
