The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency has commenced a preliminary investigation into resurfaced social media posts involving Nigerian singer Simisola Bolatito Kosoko, popularly known as Simi. The development was confirmed by the Executive Secretary of the agency, Lola Vivour-Adeniyi, during an appearance on Channels Television on Thursday, February 26, 2026.
The resurfaced posts, which date back over a decade, recently generated public reactions online. The tweets referenced the singer’s past interactions with children at a daycare centre. Speaking during the broadcast, Vivour-Adeniyi stated that the agency has a statutory responsibility to review the matter, despite the time that has passed.
“For the Simi case, we cannot act like we have not seen this case,” she said. “And so we have a duty to at least commence preliminary investigation. Is there any survival? Because the truth of the matter is that it’s going to be very difficult to prosecute the lady without a survivor being present, a victim of whatever it is,” she added.
She further queried the categorisation of the alleged incidents, asking, “Is it sexual abuse? Is it defilement?”
Clarifying the immediate objective of the agency, she stated, “So it’s to start the process, encourage anybody who was allegedly sexually assaulted by Simi to please come forward and ensure that their statement is taken. And then we know where we’re going to end on the matter.”
When asked whether the state government would extend its investigation to the daycare facility referenced in the posts, Vivour-Adeniyi confirmed that a multi-agency structure had been activated. “Yes, I did say that the taskforce on safeguarding and child protection has been briefed on the matter,” she said.
She explained that the “Taskforce on Safeguarding and Child Protection” consists of senior representatives from relevant government institutions.“So that taskforce comprises top-level representatives of relevant government agencies, including Ministry of Education, Office of Education and Quality Assurance, Ministry of Youth and Social Development. Basically all the relevant institutions of government that assist with the responsibility of ensuring safety and protection of children, especially in child-centred institutions,” Vivour-Adeniyi stated.See_More…
