The National Missioner of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Islamic Society, AbdulRahman Ahmad, has commended the infrastructural development recorded in Kwara State under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq over the past six years.
Ahmad said every government leaves its mark in the sands of time, noting that the governor has contributed to the growth of the state and deserves support and prayers to end his tenure successfully.
The cleric made the remarks in Ilorin on Sunday during a Ramadan Lecture Series organised in honour of the governor, according to a statement made available to journalists.
Describing government as a social contract that works best when leaders and citizens operate in synergy, Ahmad said the success of any administration depends largely on the level of support it receives from the people.
“If the current administration is doing its best, contributing its quota to the infrastructural development of Kwara, who are we to discredit it? It is history itself that will evaluate and judge. My prayer is that history will judge this administration very well,” he said.
The cleric stressed that both the government and citizens share responsibility for the success or failure of an administration, adding that cooperation, prayers and support from residents are essential for meaningful progress.
He also urged citizens to fulfil their civic responsibilities, including obeying laws, paying taxes and protecting public infrastructure, noting that government policies and programmes can only succeed when the people play their part.
Speaking on the spiritual significance of Ramadan, Ahmad described the fasting period as a time when good deeds attract multiplied rewards from Allah and encouraged Muslims to show kindness to others.
The lecture series was attended by several Muslim faithful, including members of the Kwara State House of Assembly, cabinet members, leaders of the All Progressives Congress, and representatives of the Ilorin Emirate Council
