A 96-year-old woman in Anambra State broke down in tears after being denied the opportunity to vote, with details emerging online.
The Anambra governorship election is underway, with voters casting their ballots across the state’s 21 local government areas.
The governorship election features 16 candidates competing for the governorship seat.

According to a report from PUNCH NG, Elizabeth Onike, the incident occurred at the Umudim Akasi Polling point at Anaocha local government.
PUNCH reports that the elderly woman wasn’t allowed to vote because she didn’t have a valid voter’s card.
Speaking after the incident, Elizabeth Onike stated, “My children are outside, and none is at home with me. I am pained that I am not going to vote in this election to determine who will be my next governor”.
In a recent development, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has begun uploading results from the Anambra State governorship election online.
Meanwhile, Governor Charles Soludo of APGA is leading in 17 out of 21 local government areas, with notable wins in Anambra East, Ayamelum, and Oyi Local Government Areas.
The electoral commission described the election as peaceful.
