Governor Umar Bago of Niger State has stated that states outside the All Progressives Congress have benefited significantly under the current administration, dismissing claims that federal support is limited to APC-controlled states. Bago made the remarks during an interview on TVC News on Sunday, March 1, 2026, where he addressed political alignment and economic reforms.
“Well, let me tell you, even states that are not APC have enjoyed even more than APC states. I can tell you for free. Anambra states have enjoyed more than I have enjoyed, you know. Zamfara State has enjoyed more than I have enjoyed, you know. Even Kano State, before he came, has enjoyed more than I have enjoyed. So it’s not about being in APC, but you brought it up,” he said.
The governor urged Nigerians to focus on policy outcomes rather than party lines. “You know, when it’s time for politics now, let’s just look at the manifesto of APC. Let’s look at the economic policies of the president and this government. Let’s look at the transformation that we have gotten. Let’s look at the transition that has happened,” he stated.
Highlighting economic indicators, Bago expressed confidence in the stability of the naira.
“Now, nobody is scared, you know, to go and hide money in dollar. You know, naira is very stable. In fact, we have just pushed down the value of naira to about 1,250 as of this morning. You know, it means that, okay, if we want to make dollar before the end of this year at 1,000 naira, it’s very possible because the indices are very clear, you know. The CBN NPR dropped it by 50 points. And you can see this is working,” he said.
He credited the administration’s approach to economic management. “So the economic policy of the president has worked, you know. He was bold about it, you know. He was very, very decisive about it, and everybody is enjoying it. And that is why people understand there is a leadership, and they trust in this leadership, and they want to be part of this success,” Bago added.See_More…
