Amaechi: Stop This Presidency Dream, The Niger Delta Will Never Support You — George Sara-Igbe

Alabo George Sara-Igbe, a prominent elder and activist from the Niger Delta region, has issued a stern warning to the former Minister of Transportation regarding his reported presidential ambitions. During a recent media engagement, the elder statesman expressed deep dissatisfaction with the political track record of the former governor. He argued that the political climate in Rivers State suggests a total disconnect between the leadership and the grassroots across the south south region.

According to a video posted on the Official YouTube channel of SYMFONI, while discussing the recent waves of political violence and abandonment in the state, Sara-Igbe stated, “I don’t think Amaechi should think of the presidency, because he would not get the support of the Niger Delta.” He explained that despite holding high offices for over twenty four years, the politician has failed to build any loyalty within his village.

The activist pointed out that followership is earned through empowerment and consistent support for the people. He contrasted this by claiming the former minister acted as a lone ranger who ignored the elders and failed to use his federal influence to uplift the youth. Sara-Igbe lamented that during his time in the cabinet, the politician did not prioritize regional infrastructure, specifically noting the absence of a railway connecting the delta to Abuja.

Furthermore, the elder alleged that many of the opportunities meant for the people of Rivers State were diverted to personal associates rather than the suffering masses. He questioned how a leader who could not secure his own home ground could possibly lead a complex nation like Nigeria. This lack of grassroots investment has led to a situation where the common people feel no obligation to defend his interests against any political strangers.

In his concluding remarks, Sara-Igbe urged the former minister to look at his reflection and let his conscience judge his past actions before seeking higher office. He emphasized that the Niger Delta is now more enlightened and will only support candidates who have demonstrated genuine love for their homeland. The elder made it clear that any attempt to contest for the presidency would meet a brick wall of resistance from his people.See_More…
