The police charged a 40-year-old Law student of the university, Monday Goodluck, with rape.
The victim, (name withheld) is a 100-level Medicine and Surgery student of the university who is also the First Prosecution Witness (PW1).
The victim narrated to the court her ordeal in the hands of the defendant.
She said the defendant caused her physical injury.
“He lured me to his house under the pretext of helping me secure approval for a Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND ) students’ loan,” she said.
During her testimony, which lasted nearly two hours, PW1 recounted the events leading to the alleged assault and became emotional while giving evidence before the court.
The prosecution tendered photographs said to show injuries allegedly sustained by PW1 in her mouth.
The Prosecution Counsel, Donatus Abah, told the court that the injuries were inflicted when the defendant allegedly shoved his fingers into PW1’s mouth in an attempt to prevent her from screaming for help.
Following the conclusion of PW1’s testimony, Justice M.S. Idris adjourned the case until July 6 for continuation. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
