PWAN Group Limited is facing the threat of legal action over an alleged outstanding indebtedness of N83.3 million owed to Dhairmistress Luxury Hair.
The company was given 24 hours to settle the debt or face legal proceedings, according to a final demand letter dated September 14, 2026, and issued by Dhairmistress Luxury Hair’s lawyer Ademola Adefolaju.
In the letter, Ademola said PWAN Group had previously acknowledged its financial obligation to their client and undertaken to commence repayment with N10 million on or before June 30, 2026, followed by a structured repayment arrangement for the remaining balance.
Pwan Group according to Ademola has however failed to honour the undertaking, prompting a further demand letter dated July 8, 2026.
The latest letter alleged that PWAN Group defaulted on its proposed N10 million monthly instalments for June, July and August 2026, leaving N30 million due for the three months.
The lawyer said their client had exercised considerable restraint and given PWAN several opportunities to regularise the alleged indebtedness, but that the company’s repeated failure to make the agreed payments had become unacceptable.
“Take notice that unless the sum of N83,300,000 is paid in full within 24 hours of your receipt of this letter, our instructions are to commence appropriate legal proceedings against PWAN Group Limited without any further notice,” the lawyers stated.
The lawyer said the proposed action could include recovery of the outstanding debt, applicable interest, damages, legal costs and other reliefs available under the law. While warned that if investigations into the transaction revealed evidence of fraud, deception, dishonest conduct, conversion or any other criminal offence, their client reserved the right to petition relevant law-enforcement and regulatory authorities.
PWAN Group’s Managing Director, Dr. Augustine Onwumere, in a response dated June 7, 2026, to an earlier demand, acknowledged the indebtedness but attributed its inability to meet its obligations to severe business disruption.
The company claimed that unprecedented social media campaign and reputational attack against the PWAN brand, which began in 2025, had significantly affected public confidence, sales, cash flow and overall operations.
It further cited Nigeria’s prevailing economic challenges and a slowdown in real estate transactions as factors that had worsened its liquidity position. Adding that its inflows remained below its obligations, with the company managing commitments to clients, investors, contractors, staff and other stakeholders.
The company said it had commenced a restructuring programme, including business reorganisation, new operational strategies and renewed sales initiatives, aimed at restoring sustainable operations.
PWAN also proposed paying N10 million by June 30, 2026 and subsequently engaging Dhairmistress Luxury Hair on a structured repayment plan.
But in their July 8 response, the lawyer said PWAN’s explanations did not extinguish or diminish its admitted indebtedness, stressing that no payment had been received under the proposed repayment arrangement.
The lawyer consequently demanded N30 million at the time, representing instalments for the preceding and current months, and threatened legal action if the company failed to pay.
