Adeleke honours Ooni of Ife at 51, hails him as symbol of unity

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has praised the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, for his role in promoting Yoruba heritage and strengthening Nigeria’s cultural identity on the global stage.

In a goodwill message marking the monarch’s 51st birthday, Adeleke described the traditional ruler as a symbol of peace, unity, and cultural rebirth.

According to him, the Ooni’s leadership has gone beyond ceremonial functions to embody a mission of societal transformation.

Kabiyesi has become a voice of wisdom and reconciliation whose reign continues to inspire hope for cultural preservation and national cohesion,” Adeleke said in the statement signed by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed.

Ooni commended for youth empowerment and diplomacy

Governor Adeleke also highlighted the Ooni’s contributions to youth empowerment and traditional diplomacy, noting that his efforts have opened doors for young Nigerians across various sectors.

The Ooni’s reign represents a blend of ancient wisdom and modern vision,” the governor said. “Through cultural diplomacy and youth inclusion, he has shown that traditional leadership can coexist with innovation and progress.”

Adeleke further praised Oba Ogunwusi’s dedication to community development, pointing out his initiatives that have revived Ile-Ife’s social and economic landscape.

He said the monarch’s leadership style continues to foster collaboration and peace among traditional rulers in Osun and beyond.

Calls for continued service and blessings

As the Ooni marked another year of impactful leadership, the governor prayed for divine guidance and strength for him to continue steering his people towards progress.

“I join millions of Nigerians to celebrate our royal father,” Adeleke said. “May Almighty God grant Kabiyesi long life, wisdom, and renewed energy to keep advancing the cause of peace and prosperity.”

The governor’s message drew widespread commendation from traditional leaders and political figures who described the Ooni as a bridge-builder and torchbearer for cultural advancement.

Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi ascended the throne in August 2015, succeeding the late Oba Okunade Sijuwade, and has since become one of Nigeria’s most prominent voices in cultural advocacy and youth empowerment.
