Abia Vows Fair, Merit-Based Recruitment Process

The Abia State Civil Service Commission has dismissed allegations that recruitment slots for healthcare workers are being sold, insisting that the process is transparent, merit-driven, and in line with global human resource standards.

In a statement on Monday, the commission’s chairman, Eno Eze, described the claims as “baseless and unfounded,” stressing that the recruitment procedures—application, Computer-Based Test (CBT), and interviews—were carefully designed to eliminate bias and ensure only qualified candidates are selected.

“The application, CBT, and interview processes have been meticulously designed to eliminate biases and ensure that only the best and most qualified candidates are selected for the available positions,” the statement read in part.

The commission noted that the recruitment process has already earned commendations from candidates and stakeholders for its integrity. It added that final results and documentation status of successful applicants would be published on the official recruitment portal.

Eze urged the public to trust the fairness of the exercise and encouraged anyone with credible information about attempts to compromise the process to report through the commission’s portal, assuring that such reports would be thoroughly investigated and addressed.

He reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to upholding transparency and integrity in order to build a competent healthcare workforce for Abia State.
