In a bid to promote culture, sportsmanship, and community development, the Abeokuta Polo Club has disclosed plans to hold it maiden edition of the Polo Festival.
The festival themed: “Abeokuta Polo, Where Tradition Meets Excellence,” is aimed at not only showcasing sports, but also highlighting the rich cultural heritage of Ogun State and positioning Abeokuta as a rising tourism and economic hub.
The President of the Club, Sheriff Abdulrahman, in a statement made available to newsmen on Friday, expressed confidence that it would transform the socio-economic outlook of the host community.
Abdulrahman stated that the festival, slated for Sunday, 21st of December, 2025 at the club’s ground in Kobape along Abeokuta, Sagamu, would bring together polo enthusiasts, dignitaries, business leaders, and lovers of refined entertainment.
He said, “This maiden edition represents much more than a sporting event. It is an evening of class, elegance, and world-class hospitality. Beyond the thrills of polo, the festival will open new doors for tourism, commerce, and investment in Kobape- Abeokuta.
“We are committed to creating an unforgettable experience that will become a yearly attraction for visitors from across Nigeria and beyond.”
DAILY POST reports that the event will be chaired by the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egba land, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo and will showcases, fine dining experiences, entertainment, and business networking opportunities.
