Abdul Samad Rabiu to Receive ₦297.68 Billion After Tax as BUA Cement Declares ₦338.64 Billion Dividend

BUA Cement Plc’s proposed ₦338.64 billion dividend payout for the 2025 financial year will see its majority shareholder, Abdul Samad Rabiu, receive approximately ₦297.68 billion after withholding tax.

The company declared a final dividend of ₦10.00 per ordinary share on its total issued share capital of 33,864,354,060 shares, translating to a total dividend distribution of approximately ₦338.64 billion.

Based on disclosed shareholding structure, Abdul Samad Rabiu’s attributable holdings include:

  • 18,974,995,225 shares (direct holding)

  • 13,462,681,069 shares (via BUA Industries Limited)

  • 637,403,152 shares (indirect holding through Damnaz Cement Company Limited)

This gives him a combined beneficial interest of approximately 33.08 billion shares, representing about 97.66 percent of the company.

At ₦10 per share, his gross dividend entitlement amounts to approximately ₦330.75 billion.

Under Nigeria’s standard 10 percent dividend withholding tax regime, about ₦33.08 billion would be deducted at source, leaving him with an estimated ₦297.68 billion net dividend income.

The dividend follows a strong 2025 performance in which BUA Cement reported:

  • Revenue of ₦1.18 trillion

  • Profit before tax of ₦465.28 billion

  • Profit after tax of ₦356.04 billion

  • Earnings per share of ₦10.51

The payout reflects a high earnings distribution ratio, supported by substantial margin expansion and a sharp decline in foreign exchange losses during the year.

Subject to shareholder approval at the company’s Annual General Meeting scheduled for May 21, 2026, dividend payments will be made electronically to eligible shareholders.
