AAUA Lecturers Threaten To Halt Resumption Over Unpaid Salaries

Academic staff at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), have threatened to disrupt students’ resumption and the upcoming convocation over unpaid salary arrears.

Members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at the Ondo State-owned institution have been on strike since last month, leaving academic activities suspended.

Chairman of the AAUA ASUU branch, Dr. Boluwaji Oshodi, accused the state government of neglecting the lecturers’ welfare despite repeated appeals.

“We have been patient and tolerant for a long time, but this time, we won’t be again. Our people have been pushed to the wall,” Oshodi said.

He warned that unless the government addresses the outstanding salaries, the union will not allow the planned resumption or the scheduled convocation to hold.

The AAUA dispute mirrors broader tensions across Nigeria’s university system, with ASUU recently issuing a 14-day ultimatum to the Federal Government over similar grievances.
