The Alumni Association of the National Institute has congratulated a former Nigerian Army spokesperson, Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka Usman (Rtd), following his receipt of the Sentinel of Freedom Award from the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
The association’s President, Ambassador Emmanuel Obi Okafor, described the honour as a belated but fitting recognition of Usman’s contributions to military professionalism and national security.
In a statement issued on behalf of AANI’s leadership and members, Okafor said the award validated Usman’s exemplary service as Director of Army Public Relations and his continued engagement in national discourse after retirement.
“This national honour reflects the enduring impact of a life defined by integrity, sacrifice and service. Brigadier General Usman has remained committed to strengthening Nigeria’s security institutions and promoting national unity beyond his years in uniform,” he said.
Okafor added that the association took pride in the achievement, noting that it brought honour to AANI as a body of leaders trained for public service.
“We celebrate him as a worthy ambassador of our shared ideals and wish him continued fulfilment and relevance in his service to Nigeria,” the AANI President stated.
