‎The Defence Headquarters has announced that troops of the Armed Forces of Nigeria neutralised 50 terrorists, rescued 134 kidnapped victims and repatriated about 700 Nigerians from Cameroon within one week.

‎

‎The Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja, disclosed this in Abuja while briefing journalists on military operations conducted between January 31 and February 8, 2026.

‎

‎Onoja said the achievements were recorded across major theatres, including the North-East, North-West and North-Central regions.

‎

‎“During the period under review, our troops neutralised no fewer than 50 terrorists, rescued 134 abducted victims and facilitated the safe return of about 700 Nigerians through the Banki border in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State. In addition, several terrorist camps and detention facilities were destroyed, leading to the rescue of dozens of captives and the recovery of arms and ammunition,” he said.

‎

‎He noted that most of the terrorists were neutralised under Operation HADIN KAI in Borno and Adamawa states.

‎

‎According to him, three major terrorist detention camps were destroyed, leading to the rescue of over 70 captives.

‎

‎He added that troops also recorded major successes in Zamfara, Katsina, Plateau, Benue and Delta states.

‎

‎Onoja said the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, had commended the troops and urged them to sustain the tempo of operations.
