A Nigerian lady has sparked reactions online after revealing why her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme, which started in 2023, will officially end in 2026.
The young woman shared her story on TikTok, where she explained that her long service year was not due to any punishment or extension from NYSC officials.
Started NYSC in 2023, Ending in 2026
The lady, identified on TikTok as @ade_ola7, disclosed that she began her NYSC journey in 2023 but would only pass out in 2026.
She noted that despite the unusual timeline, her situation was not what many people assumed.
“Not Extension,” She Clarifies
Addressing speculations, the lady made it clear that her prolonged stay in khaki had nothing to do with an extension.
She explained that her NYSC journey was interrupted for academic reasons, forcing her to restart the programme later.
Why She Had to Restart NYSC
In the comment section of her viral video, she explained what really happened.
“I had to go to Law school after doing NYSC for 8months. By the time I came back I had to start NYSC all over again. Not extension.”
According to her, leaving for law school meant she could not complete the initial service year, leading to a fresh start after her return.
Viral TikTok Video Sparks Reactions
The lady also revealed how long she had been wearing the NYSC uniform, a detail that surprised many viewers.
She captioned her video:
“Life is so private. Not everyone knows I’ve been wearing this khaki since 2023. And finally 4 months to go. Started as Batch C2, 2023. Ending as A2 in 2026.”
Mixed Reactions from Netizens
Her revelation triggered mixed reactions on social media, with netizens expressing surprise.
Many admitted they had no idea such a situation could happen without it being an NYSC extension.
