Three suspects, Bashiru Sheu, 27, Istifanuh Useni, 32 and Monzali Abdullahi, 26, have been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly damaging and stealing iron railings attached to the BRT to sell as scraps.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 21st December, 2025, at Guinness Bus Stop, Ogba Road in Agege area of Lagos.
According to the Police, the suspect conspired, broke the iron railings and while they were escaping they were arrested by the Police operatives from Isokoko Division and detained for interrogation over their alleged conduct.
After interrogation, the Police found them culpable and charged them before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charges read:
COUNT 1:- “That you, Bashiru Sheu ‘m’, Istifanuh Useni ‘m’ and Monzali Abdullahi ‘m’ on the 21st day of December, 2025 at about 0315hrs at Ogba Road, (Guinness Bus Stop),Agege, Lagos in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to engage in willful and malicious damage and stealing, thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
COUNT 2:-“That you, Bashiru Sheu ‘m’, Istifanuh Useni ‘m’ and Monzali Abdullahi ‘m’ on the same date, time and place and within the same Magisterial District did willfully damage BRT iron railings property of Lagos State of Nigeria and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 351 (a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
COUNT 3: That you Bashiru Sheu ‘m’, Istifanuh Useni ‘m’ and Monzali Abdullahi ‘m’ on the same date, time and place and within the same Magisterial District, did steal quantity of Iron railings attached to BRT Guinness Bus Stop Agege, property of Lagos State of Nigeria and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 287 (c) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
However, they pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Josephine Ihkayere, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.A. Owolabi, granted them bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
