25-year old man stabbed to death during altercation in Bauchi

... one suspect arrested in connection with crime

Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed the killing of a 25-year-old man, Mohammed Musa, of the Bayan Bata area of Bauchi. 

According to the Command PPRO, SP Nafiu Habib, the killing occurred following a heated altercation between the deceased and another person, Abubakar Abdullahi, also of Bayan Bata. 

He wrote in a statement issued on Monday that “The State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that on 22nd August, 2026, at about 2300 hrs, a report of culpable homicide was received from the Bayan Bata area of Bauchi metropolis.” 

The PPRO stated that a preliminary investigation revealed that a fight ensued between one Abubakar Abdullahi, aka “DAN IYA,” and Moh’d Musa, male, 25 years old. 

“During the altercation, the suspect allegedly brought out a knife and stabbed the said Moh’d Musa,” he added.  

The victim was immediately rushed to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) Bauchi, where he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.  

The Command’s operatives attached to ‘A’ Division Township swiftly responded, arrested the suspect, and recovered the knife used as an exhibit in the commission of the crime. 

The corpse has been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy while the suspect is currently in custody and the investigation is ongoing. 

The case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation and possible prosecution.  

The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed a thorough and diligent investigation to ensure justice is served. 

He further urged members of the public to shun violence and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
