The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to start preparing his handover note, saying that Nigerians are now wiser and will not gamble with their future in 2027.
Hamza Madagali, the Organising Secretary of the Adamawa State chapter of the PDP, made the statement on Friday while speaking to Saturday PUNCH at the party’s state secretariat in Yola.
According to him, Nigerians are exhausted by the current administration and are ready for a change in leadership.
PDP Criticizes APC Policies, Confident of 2027 Victory
Madagali accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) government of lacking vision and direction, describing its policies as “human and economic unfriendly.”
He claimed that Nigerians are now aware of the difference between genuine and ineffective leadership and argued that returning the PDP to power is the only solution for the country’s future.
“If you look at the membership of the National Convention committees, it is clear that the days of the APC are numbered at the presidency. Nigerians are wiser now; they now know the difference between original and fake. So, they cannot afford to gamble with the future of their children, and the only way out is to return the PDP back to power,” he said.
He also stated that the recent successes recorded during the PDP Ward Congress in Adamawa State reflect the unity in the party, which could translate into victory during the general elections.
APC Dismisses PDP’s Claims
Reacting to the PDP’s statement, APC chieftain Seye Oladejo dismissed any possibility of the opposition unseating President Tinubu. He claimed that the PDP is losing relevance, saying the party “exists only on paper.”
Oladejo added; “He [Tinubu] should be handing over to himself again as president after the 2027 elections. The PDP recently zoned its tickets without following the 1999 Constitution provisions, and later said they had made it open. It is not a party to take seriously. Talk is cheap. The 2027 elections will be the final days of the PDP.”
