INEC said the publication of the final list is part of its preparations for the 2027 general elections.

The commission also disclosed that 18 of the 22 registered political parties had submitted a total of 36 presidential and vice-presidential candidates for the 2027 elections.

According to INEC, the final list of candidates for the National Assembly elections was published on September 12, 2026.

The commission assured Nigerians and the international community of its commitment to neutrality, operational efficiency and the integrity of the electoral process as the country enters the final 100-day countdown to the elections.

The electoral body said the three phases of the Continuous Voter Registration exercise produced 10,772,421 new voters.

With the new registrations, Nigeria’s National Register of Voters has risen to more than 103 million.

INEC said the updated voter register would be displayed publicly from October 9 to October 15, 2026.

The public display will allow registered voters to scrutinise the register and raise claims or objections where necessary.

The commission also announced that the distribution of Phase 1 Permanent Voter Cards to Local Government centres would begin on Friday, October 9.

Commission Seeks Release Of Outstanding Funds

Amupitan also acknowledged the Federal Government for the timely release of statutory allocations to the commission.

According to him, the funding has enabled INEC to meet its obligations to international vendors, finance the production of critical election technology and upgrade its infrastructure.

However, he called for the prompt release of the remaining funds needed to complete outstanding electoral activities.

INEC said it remains committed to ensuring that preparations for the 2027 general elections are completed as scheduled.
