Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, has accepted the offer to become the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar.
Sampson, the immediate past chairman of the ADC in Rivers State, confirmed the development on Saturday.
Amaechi took part in the ADC presidential primary but lost to Atiku. Before the election, he said he did not buy the party’s presidential nomination form just to become a vice-presidential candidate.
After the primary, Amaechi rejected the election results. Some party members also said the process was unfair and favoured Atiku.
When asked if Amaechi had accepted the vice-presidential position, Sampson simply said “yes.” This confirms that the former Rivers State governor will join Atiku on the ADC ticket.
This move is expected to strengthen the ADC’s preparations for the 2027 general election.
