2027 Election: Fayose Predicts ADC Presidential Candidate

According to a report by Channel television On Sunday 29th March 2026, former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has projected that Atiku Abubakar may emerge as the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking at the National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Fayose offered insights into the evolving political landscape, noting that current alignments appear to favour Atiku within the ADC.

Fayose acknowledged the political weight of Peter Obi, describing him as a major force capable of influencing electoral outcomes nationwide.

However, he cautioned that Obi’s path to the presidency remains uncertain under the present political realities.

“Obi is a good and capable leader, but becoming president at this time will be difficult,” Fayose said.

He further warned that the ADC’s electoral strength could be significantly weakened if Obi does not emerge as its presidential candidate.

According to Fayose, recent political movements, including the return of Rabiu Kwankwaso, could reshape the internal balance of power within the ADC.

These developments, he suggested, may ultimately tilt the party’s presidential ticket in favour of Atiku.

Fayose also dismissed the possibility of Obi returning to the Labour Party Nigeria, citing unresolved internal issues within the party.

Obi, who left the PDP in 2022, ran under the Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election, where he finished third behind the eventual winner and Atiku.
