2 Ladies Docked For Stealing & Receiving Stolen N5.6m Goods At Trade Fair Complex

Two ladies, Cynthia Chinwedu Emenike, 33 and Seunfumi Alade, 38, have been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly stealing and receiving stolen goods worth N5.6m belonging to Agari Olusegun Ufuoma.

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened 9th day of May. 2025 at Liberty Link plaza, opposite Motel,Trade fair Complex, Lagos.

 

According to the Police, the complainant entrusted the goods to Cynthia as logistics operator to deliver to the destination.

However, she did not do so rather, she diverted the goods and sold them to Alade for an undisclosed amount, went into hiding and disconnected every communication she had with the complainant.

 

The matter was reported to the Police at Trade Fair Division. The Police operatives moved into action, eventually arrested the suspect and detained at the station for interrogation over the conduct.

 

The Police found them culpable after interrogation and charged them before the Ojo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.

 

Part of the charges read:

“That you, Cynthia Chinwedu Emenike and Seunfumi Alade, 38, on 9th day of May. 2025 at Liberty link plaza, opposite Motel, Trade fair Complex, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial district, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit: stealing and thereby committed an offence contrary to, and punishable under Section 411, of the Criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”

 

COUNT II:”That you, CYNTHIA CHINWENDU EMENIKE ‘F’, on the same date, time and place in the aforesaid Magisterial district, did dishonestly steal two cartons of ladies hand bags valued N5,600,000.00 (Five million, Six hundred thousand Naira) only, which was entrusted to you as a logistics operator to deliver to a customer, property of one Agari Olusegun Ufuoma “m” and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 280 and punishabie under Section 287(9)(b) of the Criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”

 

COUNT III:”That you, SEUNFUNMI ALADE ‘F’, on the same date, time and place in the aforesaid Magisterial district, did dishonestly receive two carions of ladies hand bags valued #5,600,000.00 (Five million. Six hundred thousand naira) only from one CYNTHIA CHINWENDU EMENIKE ‘F’ knowing same to be stolen or dishonestly obtained, property of one Agari Olusegun Ufuoma ‘m’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to, and punishable under Section 328(1), of the Criminal law of Lagos State 2015″

 

They pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutor, Supol Uche Simeon, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.K.J. Layeni, granted them bail with sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional center pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
