1978 newspaper reveals name Tinubu at Chicago university

‎ A 1978 newspaper article shared online allegedly reveals President Bola Tinubu’s name during his time as a student at Chicago State University.

‎The article was shared by Nigerian journalist, Tolu Ogunlesi via a recent post on the microblogging platform X, (formerly Twitter).

‎The article features Tinubu among 12 black students introduced to the racetrack business as part of a diversity initiative

‎In the article, Tinubu opens up about his plans to apply American business insights to economic development in Nigeria.

‎This follows after President Tinubu extended the tenure of the Surveyor-General of the Federation, Mr. AbuduGaniyu Adebomehin, by two years.

‎ This decision was made to allow Adebomehin to complete reforms in geospatial data systems and other strategic national projects.

‎It would be recalled that he was appointed Surveyor-General of the Federation by late former president, Muhammadu Buhari on January 5, 2022.

Earlier, Gistreel reported that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu granted presidential pardon on October 9, 2025.

The pardons included high-profile cases like Major General Mamman Vatsa, posthumously pardoned for an alleged 1986 coup plot, and Ken Saro-Wiwa and the Ogoni Eight, also posthumously pardoned.

The pardons were granted based on factors like remorse, good conduct, vocational skills, old age, and educational achievements.

The pardoned individuals included those who had completed their sentences or shown good behavior during incarceration.
