1,420 Corps Members Sworn in for NYSC in Osun

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Osun State on Friday formally sworn in 1,420 corps members for the 2025 Batch B Stream II orientation programme.

The Osun NYSC State Coordinator, Agbor Ndoma Obim, disclosed this at the opening ceremony held at the Permanent Orientation Camp in Ede. He described the corps members’ mobilisation as the start of a “memorable journey of service, patriotism, and nation-building.”

Obim said the orientation course was structured to instill discipline, resilience, and civic responsibility while preparing participants for national development. He assured the corps members that their safety remained paramount, noting that the scheme was working with security agencies and host communities to guarantee their welfare.

“I implore you to always be security conscious and avoid unnecessary risks. Use social media responsibly. Sharing unauthorised content could breach security, violate colleagues’ privacy, and undermine the integrity of the programme,” he cautioned.

Obim thanked the Osun State government and partner organisations for supporting the smooth running of the scheme.

Governor Ademola Adeleke, represented by Youth Affairs Commissioner Moshood Olagunju, urged the corps members to take the orientation seriously and to see themselves as ambassadors of unity, peace, and progress.

“The NYSC remains one of the most enduring legacies of our national history. For over five decades, it has brought together young Nigerians from diverse backgrounds to serve and train together, strengthening unity and fostering development,” Adeleke said.

He encouraged the corps members to leave lasting impacts in education, healthcare, agriculture, rural development, and other community service areas where they will be posted.

“Your conduct throughout this service year will reflect not only on you as individuals but also on the nation. Be disciplined, resourceful, and committed to the ideals of the scheme,” he added.

The governor pledged his administration’s continued support for the NYSC in the state.
