YPC Hails Gov Aiyedatiwa Over Nomination of Idowu Ajanaku as Commissioner

Yoruba Progressive Council (YPC) has hailed Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for nominating Idowu Ajanaku as commissioner.

Former Osun State Governor, Bisi Akande, also lauded Aiyedatiwa for the nomination and congratulated Ajanaku.

“Idowu, I urge you to serve with loyalty, sincerity, and integrity to reap boundless blessings,” Akande said.

In a statement, National Coordinator of YPC, Abe Kolawole, the group described Ajanaku’s nomination as a “step in the right direction,” noting it reflects the governor’s commitment to meritocracy and effective governance.

Kolawole praised the governor for his “smart appointments,” adding the governor’s selections are based on pedigree, capacity, and records.

“Ajanaku is a seasoned professional. He has demonstrated competence and will strengthen the government.”

Ajanaku, award-winning journalist and political strategist, has held key positions. He was a former special adviser on Information and Strategy to former Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode.

YPC noted Ajanaku’s journalism career in over 15 years with Vanguard, The Guardian, and others. He was a senior special assistant on Media and Strategy with former Governor Raji Fashola in Lagos State.

Ajanaku has a Bachelor’s in History and International Studies from LASU and a Master’s in History and Strategic Studies from UNILAG. He is a fellow of Martin Luther King Jr. Centre for Leadership.

The group extended its heartfelt congratulations to Idowu Ajanaku on his nomination.

The commendation came shortly after Governor Aiyedatiwa officially submitted a list of 12 commissioner nominees to the Ondo State House of Assembly for confirmation.

In a letter addressed to the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, dated June 12, 2025, the governor invoked Section 192 (1 & 2) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), requesting the legislature’s prompt confirmation of the nominees.

Governor Aiyedatiwa urged the House to act swiftly in confirming the nominees to ensure the continued smooth running of the state’s affairs.
