Nyesom Wike, ex-governor of Rivers State and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has levelled serious allegations against his political rival, Rotimi Amaechi, claiming that Amaechi’s wife has misused N4 billion designated for training Niger Delta women. In a recent interview on Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today’, Wike addressed Amaechi’s assertions of seniority and his demands for respect based on experience.
Wike countered, “Respect should be based on personal integrity rather than age. Being a former governor doesn’t confer superiority.” He recounted his political journey, stating that he was already an elected local government chairman before meeting Amaechi.
Wike then scrutinised Amaechi’s wife, questioning her self-styled title of “industrialist” and linking her financial dealings to an impending forensic audit of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). “What company does she run?” he asked.
He condemned Amaechi for using his wife’s business status for political leverage and expressed disappointment at his lack of respect for her. “If you value your wife, you wouldn’t speak of her in such terms,” Wike stated. He called on President Bola Tinubu to release the long-awaited NDDC audit report, which he claimed would reveal how Amaechi’s wife misappropriated billions.
