Former President Goodluck Jonathan has said insecurity gave him “serious headache” during his time as Nigeria’s number one citizen.

According to Daily trust, He spoke during the commissioning of a 22-kilometre road project in Taraba State.

According to him, he had sleepless nights trying to address the problem.

The ex-president urged the people of the state to live in peace for more development to thrive.

Daily trust that, Jonathan, who noted that security is in the hands of the people, expressed happiness that Taraba was gradually returning to the good old days of peaceful coexistence and tolerance.

“The unrest in Nigeria kept me up at night while I was president of that country. My ADC will occasionally bring a phone to the church where I am to show me how people are being killed or abducted, and that gave me a really bad headache.

“As I entered the Jalingo airport, I saw the DSS Director and asked him right away, ‘How is Taraba State security wise?’” and he informed me that Taraba is generally calm,” he claimed.

From 2010 to 2015, Jonathan presided over Nigeria.

During that time, the Boko Haram cult emerged as one of the world’s most dangerous terrorist organisations, killing hundreds of people and forcing millions more to flee their homes in the North-East.

In an effort to create an Islamic caliphate in the area, the group also raised its flag in a number of communities in the North-East.
