UI Professor: Ajewole’s Death Was A Shock, Sultan Of Sokoto Says, Condoles With Family, University



The Sultan of Sokoto and President of the Jama’atu Nasril Islam, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, has described the death of Professor Opeyemi Ajewole of the University of Ibadan (UI), who was murdered on Monday night in Oyo State, as shocking.

According to, this was disclosed in a statement released by the Sultanate Council’s Secretary, Sai’du Maccido, the Sultan who is the Chancellor of UI, sympathised with the family.

It read that they learnt for the gruesome murder of one of the professors at the university. The Chancellor condemns the killing as consoles with the later professor’s family and the university community.

The Sultan expresses sadness for losing such and ingenious don and the originality that he had contributed to the quality of education and knowledge service delivery at UI during his lifetime.

He urged the police to fish out the assailants and bring them to justice.

Kashim Shettima, the Vice President, has also mourned the Professor Ajewole who happened to be his classmate.
