Tunde Onakoya bags Ooni of Ife’s Royal African Award

Founder of Chess In Slums, Tunde Onakoya has been inducted into the Ooni of Ife Royal court after bagging the revered Royal African Young Leader Award.

The award ceremony is a youth-focused event which launched in 2020 under the Global Outreach Initiative of Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi with the aim of celebrating young Nigerians who are succeeding in their chosen fields and standing out.

At the grand event which is currently holding at the Oduduwa Hall of Obafemi Awolowo University, Onakoya received a honorary award from the monarch.

The chess master took to his Twitter account on Saturday, May 21 to express gratitude for the recognition.

He shared photos showing the Ooni handed him the Royal African award plaque and wrote;

”I feel greatly honored to be a recipient of the Royal African award by the Ooni of Ifè”
