Tottenham Sacking Ange Postecoglou Didn’t Surprise Me – Lloris

Former Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has said that the club lifted a huge weight off its shoulders by winning the Europa League.

He recently hailed sacked Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou for ending the club’s 17-year wait for silverware.

Speaking during an interview, Lloris shared that he was very pleased to see Spurs defeat Manchester United in Bilbao to finally win a trophy after several years.

According to him, ex-Tottenham players like himself did everything possible to win a trophy during their stay at the club, so he was more than happy to see the new players realize the dream at long last.

The goalie then urged the club to build on its latest success, stressing that it could be the foundation for many more trophies in the near future.

“I am really pleased. I am really happy for the club, for the people at the club, for the players.

We ran many, many years after this trophy and finally they got it and I think they deserve it.

Hopefully it will make their shoulders a little bit lighter for the future and I think it is also the moment to build on this success for Spurs. Even if I am not a Spurs player, I still follow the news, the team and the results,” he said.

The Frenchman further noted that he wasn’t surprised to see Ange sacked after winning the trophy because nothing surprises him in football anymore.

He concluded by saying that the club simply pulled the trigger because they feel Thomas Frank is the better option for the future of Tottenham.

“No, nothing surprises me in football. But at the same time, it is hard to say something because I am on the other side. I don’t know what happened inside the club so it really hard for me to judge.

If they made this decision it is because they believe there is another option which is better for the future of the club.

What Ange Postecoglou did was just remarkable. He brought this Europa League trophy, he brought a lot of joy to the Spurs community, a lot of pride as well and we all have to be thankful for that,” he added.
