Seun Kuti Released On Bail

Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti has been released from police custody after meeting bail conditions on Tuesday.

Kuti has been detained by the police for allegedly assaulting a police officer some days ago on Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos.

Recall that Kuti’s lawyers in a statement had earlier said that he would be released on bail as ordered by the Magistrate.

The Senate President, Dr Ahmad Lawan, denied reports in some sections of the media that he has declared interest in contesting for the office of the nation’s number three citizen during the forthcoming inauguration of the 10th National Assembly.

There have been rumours that the outgoing Senate President has joined the array of aspirants vying for the exalted office, to serve a second term in office.

Yahaya Elected As NGF Chair

Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe state, has been elected as the new Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum, NGF.

Recall that Yahaya won his re-election bid for a second term as the governor of Gombe in the February 2023 general elections.

Yahaya was first elected governor of the state in 2019.

The Gombe governor will be taking over from the outgoing chairman of the forum and governor of Plateau state, Simon Lalong.

Falana Urges ECOWAS Leaders To Obey Rule Of Law

Human rights lawyer Femi Falana, SAN has urged Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) leaders to “obey the rule of law, and uphold the principles of democracy and good governance.”

Falana said this yesterday in a paper presented at the International Conference hosted by the Community Court of Justice, at Banjul, The Gambia.
