Respect Tinubu, APC’s Decision – Wike Tells Aspirants

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has said aspirants of the National Assembly should respect the decision of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the President-elect, Bola Tinubu. Wike said respecting APC and Tinubu’s decision would lead to Nigeria’s progress. He remarked while noting that no President can operate at maximum capacity if he does not have the cooperation of the National Assembly.

Addressing journalists in Abuja, Wike said: “During his campaign, he, Tinubu, promised to unite every Nigerian and bring competence. It’s not going to be because you are members of APC or not, we want Nigerians with the capacity to help people deliver what will make Nigeria to be great. No President can do very well if he does not have that leadership that is not ready to cooperate with him. If you remember what happened in 2015, that affected the performance of the present administration. In the interest of Nigerians, let them respect the leadership of their party and the President-elect to move forward.”

Governor Badaru Denies Sabotaging Successor

Jigawa State Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar has denied accusations of him sabotaging the incoming governor, Malam Umar Namadi, describing the allegation as mischievous and unfounded.

Badaru stated this during a courtesy paid to him in Dutse by one of the chairmen, Gerawa Globacom, Alhaji Ahmad Isa Gerawa.

The governor also described those spreading the rumour as disgruntled elements and hypocrites who lost political ground and relevance in APC and Jigawa State affairs.

Ation: Disquiet Over Sirika’s Last-Minute Decisions

There is disquiet in the ation sector over what stakeholders and operators called last-minute decisions by the Ministry of Ation under Senator Hadi Sirika as a minister, Daily Trust on Sunday can report. Stakeholders say recent decisions by the ministry could paint the sector in a bad light and block investment opportunities.

Some of the decisions which stakeholders have faulted include the recent concession of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja and the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), Kano, which they said was shrouded in secrecy. Also, there are indications of an impending sweeping leadership change among the ation agencies, with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) being the biggest casualty.

Speaker: Minority Group Denies Endorsing Abbas

A coalition of members-elect of the 10th House of Representatives in minority parties, 10th Assembly – Greater Majority, has denied endorsing Tajudeen Abbas for the position of Speaker. 

The Secretary of the group, Ali Isa, made this known in a notice to members issued on Saturday and titled ‘Important Notice to All Members of the Minority Caucuses of the 10th National Assembly, House of Representatives’.

Some leaders of the coalition met with the outgoing Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, who is championing Abbas’ campaign, in Abuja on Thursday.
