Meet The CBN’s New Acting Gov, Shonubi

Following the immediate suspension of the Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele, from office, his Deputy (tions Directorate) Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi, has been announced to act in his capacity in the meantime.
President Bola Tinubu, on Friday night suspended Emefiele. The suspension was announced in a statement issued by the Director of Information, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Willie Bassey.
Bassey explained that the suspension of the CBN governor is based on an ongoing investigation as well as because of a planned reform of the financial sector.
Shonubi, the new acting CBN governor assumed the position of tions Directorate on October 17, 2018.
He was born on the 7th of March, 1962.
He holds a double Master’s Degree respectively in Business Administration and Mechanical Engineering, from the University of Lagos. He is a banker with over 30 year’s professional experience.
He was the Managing Director/CEO of the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System PLC from 2012-2018.
DSS Arrests Ousted CBN Gov, Emefiele

The suspended Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, has been arrested by the Department of State Services, DSS.
Emefiele was earlier suspended on Friday by
President Bola Tinubu.
Tinubu also appointed Mr Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi as the acting Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, in replacement for Emefiele.
Most fleet operators have installed speed limiters, says FRSC

The Federal Road Safety Corps has said almost all registered fleet operators in the country have deployed speed limit devices in their vehicles.
In May, during activities marking the seventh United Nations Global Road Safety Week in Abuja, the FRSC Corps Marshal, Dauda Biu, said over 40,000 people die annually as a result of road traffic crashes in the country.
On the level of compliance, Kazeem said that the compliance level is above board, especially the organized fleet operators. They have actually worked with our Commanding Officers nationwide to ensure a full transition to the speed limiter regime.
He said that as it stands today, almost all registered fleet operators have installed the device in their vehicles. The Corps is also making serious moves in enforcement, particularly other commercial vehicle operators that do not have a fleet. The essence is to ensure that collectively speed-related crashes are brought to an end.
President makes first official broadcast Monday

The President, Bola Tinubu, will on Monday make his first official broadcast as part of the June 12 celebration.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, at a press briefing in Abuja on Friday said the celebration would be low-key, which according to him, was a result of the recent presidential inauguration which was elaborately celebrated.
Akunme noted that the activities lined up for celebration were the press briefing and the President’s address to the nation by 7am on Monday.
Akume promised that adequate measures had been put in place to ensure citizens’ safety, before, during and after the celebration.
