President Bola Tinubu has expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary process across the country, describing it as peaceful, organized, and a strong demonstration of internal democracy.
The President spoke on Saturday after participating in political party activities at Ward L2 in Ikoyi, Lagos, where he commended party members and governors for ensuring a transparent and inclusive exercise.
According to him, the process has allowed party members at the grassroots level to actively participate in the democratic process.
President Tinubu said the exercise reflected true grassroots politics where every member of the party has the opportunity to be involved.
Speaking on the conduct of the primaries nationwide, the President said he was pleased with the efforts of APC governors in organizing acceptable exercises in their respective states.
He noted that the process, from ward congresses to local government congresses, delegate accreditation, validation, membership registration, and certification of the electoral process, had been well coordinated.
The President added that the exercise showed democracy functioning at a high level within the ruling party.
Reacting to the show of support from party members and supporters, President Tinubu said the encouragement from Nigerians only motivates him to do more.
“I’m just excited. They challenge me more,” the President said.
