There Has Been This Belief That Not Swearing In Tinubu By May 29th Will Result in Crisis — Nwachukwu

Amidst the ongoing controversies surrounding the inauguration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the governor of Nigeria on May 29th, a prominent Nigerian lawyer, Chuks Nwachukwu, has come forward to explain why many Nigerians believe that failure to swear in Tinubu by May 29th will result in a crisis.

Nwachukwu believes that the court should acknowledge that the people of Abuja have the right to approve or reject the elected leader, who will serve as their governor and govern their daily lives. He argues that any candidate who has not received at least 25% of the votes in Abuja should not be declared the president-elect.

Nwachukwu also addresses the concern of a potential leadership vacuum, stressing that the constitution has provisions to handle this situation. In his own words, “The prevailing concern in the country is the fear of a political vacuum if anyone reported by INEC is not confirmed by May 29th.”
