The Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, has said that he would back all of President Bola Tinubu’s decisions regarding the 2027 general election.
He recently revealed that he would have no problem with Tinubu choosing him as his running mate.
Speaking during a press briefing in Abuja, Jibrin shared that he intends to do whatever BAT asks him to without thinking twice.
According to him, he considers President Tinubu his political father; therefore, if his leader needs his services, he’ll always be ready to serve.
“Whatever the President asks me to do, I will do it — 100 per cent.
He is my political father. If he calls on me to work with him, I will simply say, ‘Thank you, sir’ and I will do it,” he said.
The Kano-born lawmaker, however, stated that it is too early to talk about 2027 politics, stressing that the concentration should be on governance right now.
Jibrin believes more focus should be placed on supporting the President’s efforts to develop the country because he is a kind-hearted leader.
Describing Tinubu as the father of the nation, he declared that he’ll do everything within his power to make sure he succeeds as president.
“Mr President has been working hard to reposition Nigeria and tackle the problems he inherited.
He is a kind-hearted and open-minded leader who stood by me when I faced challenges in Kano.
The President is the father of the nation. But for now, we stand by him, we are working with him, and we want him to succeed. When he succeeds, we all succeed,” he said.
Jibrin further noted that while the groups pushing for him to be vice president mean well, he needs them to focus on supporting Tinubu’s administration henceforth.
He concluded by saying that he is a staunch progressive, and loyalty is something he’ll never take for granted.
“When the time comes, we will talk politics. For now, let us face governance and support Mr President to succeed. When he succeeds, we all succeed.
I am a progressive to the core, and loyalty is something I cherish deeply. I am 100 per cent loyal to Mr President,” he added.
